The first online food ordering service, World Wide Waiter (now known as Waiter.com), was founded in 1995. The site originally serviced only northern California, later expanding to several additional cities in the United States. Why are food delivery apps so successful? After all, it’s no secret that turning a profit in the restaurant industry is notoriously challenging. The answer? Convenience. Consumers are willing to pay extra for convenience, and if you simplify their lives, you can make money as a tech entrepreneur.
